Summit imports tenant and property CSVs from AppFolio, Buildium, DoorLoop, TenantCloud, and generic spreadsheets. Column names get auto-mapped — you don't have to rename anything before uploading.
Export from your current platform
- AppFolio: Reports → Tenant Roster → Export CSV.
- Buildium: Rentals → Tenants → Export → Excel/CSV.
- DoorLoop: Reports → Tenants → Download CSV.
- TenantCloud: Tenants → Export.
- Spreadsheet from scratch: Use whatever columns you have — Summit recognizes the common ones (
full_name,tenant name,email,phone,phone number,status).
Upload to Summit
- Tenants view → click Import CSV in the toolbar.
- Drop the file. Summit shows a preview of the first 5 rows + what each column will map to.
- Click Import. Most CSVs of 100-300 tenants import in under 30 seconds.
- Same flow for properties via the Properties view's Import CSV.
What we auto-recognize
For tenants: Tenant Name / Full Name / Name (auto-split into first/last), Email, Phone Number / Mobile, Status (active / current / applicant / future → applicant / vacated → past / past / former).
For properties: Property Name, Address Line 1 / Street / Address, City, State, Zip Code, Property Type (Single-Family / Multi-Family / Apartment / Condo / Townhouse / Commercial / SFR / MFR all map correctly).
What's NOT imported (out of scope)
Historical leases, payment history, maintenance records. Each has too many edge cases per source system to import reliably. The pattern: import the current state (active tenants + active leases), connect your tenant inbox via forwarding, and the AI handles the going-forward work. Historical records stay in your old system as a reference.
